Our School's Christian Vision underpin our day to day life.
“Sowing the seeds of tomorrow.”
We created our vision statement based upon theological roots from Matthew 13: 1-23 and our school belief that all children should be given the opportunities, care and support they need to achieve their full potential and to become responsible, confident, and happy members of society. The Bible narrative underpinning our theological roots is the 'Parable of the Sower.' We chose this because it reflects our vision of providing an excellent foundation and all the ingredients needed for all children to flourish and grow to reach their full potential.
Our school's Christian values are the cornerstone of our ethos, guiding our interactions and shaping our educational environment. These values include:
Love: Love is at the heart of our community. We strive to create a nurturing and compassionate environment where every child feels valued and supported.- Respect: We encourage our students to honour the dignity and worth of every individual, fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
- Trust: Trust underpins all our relationships. We aim to build a trustworthy and reliable community where everyone feels safe and secure.
- Truthfulness: We promote honesty and integrity, encouraging students to be truthful in their words and actions.
- Forgiveness: Understanding the importance of forgiveness is crucial. We teach our students to forgive others and seek forgiveness, recognising it as a path to healing and reconciliation.
At St. Peter's, these values are not just ideals but are actively lived out in our daily interactions and educational practices. They help us create a school environment where every child can flourish academically, socially, and spiritually.
The Christian nature of St. Peter's is an important aspect of school life
It serves as the foundation upon which our educational philosophy is built. Worship in our school is closely aligned with the worship
calendar of the Church, ensuring that all major Christian festivals, such as Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, and Harvest, are both studied and joyfully celebrated. This connection to the Church's liturgical year helps our students develop a deep understanding and appreciation of the Christian faith and its traditions.
Beyond celebrating Christian festivals, our worship time also reflects on other vital aspects of human faith, personal endeavour, and noteworthy achievements. We believe that worship is not only a time for religious observance but also a moment to recognise and celebrate the diverse ways in which individuals can contribute to the world around them, embodying the values we hold dear.
At St. Peter's, we consider worship to be an integral part of a child's education. It offers a unique opportunity for spiritual growth, moral reflection, and communal bonding. Each Tuesday, our local clergy lead worship in the school, providing students with spiritual guidance and insights that enrich their everyday lives. Additionally, our clergy organise special events throughout the year, such as Advent and Lent services, which bring the school and church communities together in shared faith and fellowship.
A distinctive feature of our worship practice is the active involvement of our students. At least once each term, children take the lead in services held at the church. These services are open to the entire school and church communities, fostering a strong sense of unity and shared purpose. Through their participation, students gain confidence, develop leadership skills, and experience first hand the joy and responsibility of contributing to their faith community.
Spirituality Across Our Curriculum
Spirituality is nurtured in every child by encouraging wonder, reflection and deep sense of connection with God, others and the world around them.
At our school, spirituality is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child and adult is on a spiritual journey — growing in understanding, compassion, and faith. Rooted in our Christian vision, “Sowing the seeds of tomorrow,” we seek to nurture the spiritual development of our children, families and our staff.
Together we have created our St Peter’s spirituality statement.
"Spirituality is an ongoing reflective journey. A connection to something that is bigger than ourselves. It is about awe and wonder, asking ultimate questions and being inspired to look beyond ourselves. We serve and care for others and all that God has created."
Spirituality is not a stand-alone subject; it is woven throughout our curriculum and daily life. This includes:
- Moments that make us react with awe and wonder — those gasp-out-loud or pinch-yourself experiences that remind us what a wonderfully special place our world is.
- Moments that make us sad — times when we encounter loss, injustice, or damage to our world. These experiences deepen empathy and help us to connect with others.
- Moments to pause, reflect, and simply be. They help us to appreciate the present, to give thanks, and to notice the beauty and blessings in everyday life.
